I offer coaching on the web, on the phone and in person. I have been in the field for about 45 years and have found coaching to be a wonderful addition to my practice. While my licenses are in marriage and family counseling and mental health, I have been coaching since 1991. I have taken all of the required courses for certification plus additional coursework for the past ten years. I love working with people to set goals after helping them to determine what they want.
Counseling vs Coaching:
Coaching is the practice of helping people with goal achievement. Coaching places emphasis on the future while counseling usually focuses on resolving past conflicts. Coaching deals more with goal-setting and assists the client in reaching the goal. The aim is to move quickly toward the goals. The client becomes motivated when he or she creates the change and there is inspiration to continue on this path. The emphasis is more on movement than insight.
Coaching is ideal for those who identify an area and are ready to define the problem and become goal-oriented in order to create change quickly. Coaching works well for people who are already functioning well or even above average. The goal regimen is motivating in that goals are readily attained and gain is obvious. I love this aspect of coaching. It's important for both of us to see the successes.
If you want to pursue this direction, write down one goal and two sub goals or tasks to complete this goal and call me for a free initial 1/2 hour of coaching. I'm offering this for all of August so take advantage of this "offer to further success."
Love and Peace,
Doc Pete, the imperfect therapist
